UK PUTS GHANA ON RED LIST FOR ACTIVE HEALTH WORKERS RECRUITMENT

Ghana is currently among the list of 54 countries put on red list in the United Kingdom that should be actively targeted for the recruitment of health workers and social care workers by employers in the UK.

This announcement was declared by the UK government in its revised code of practice for the international recruitment of health and social care personnel in England recently.

The code stated that some countries such as Ghana, Cote D’Ivoire, Nigeria should not be targeted when there is the need to recruit health care professionals

The release on the NHS website explained that the UK Government listed countries that have a UHC Service Coverage Index that is lower than 50 and a density of doctors, nurses and midwives that is below the global median (48.6 per 10,000 population).

Thereby giving them enough impetus to remove them from the list
